Easter at Mariánské – Residents and visitors to Prague have the opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere and buy Easter products from social enterprises and non-profit organizations at the markets.
“This year’s Easter market at Mariánské náměstí is not only a celebration of folk traditions, but also a beautiful opportunity to connect culture with history. The Tradition in Pictures exhibition presents a unique view of the costumes and customs of our ancestors through artistic photography. Come and see the roots of Czech and Moravian Easter traditions and the role they play in our cultural heritage and identity. And you can also contribute to the Mayor’s Easter collection by feeding dogs and cats from shelters.” says Jiří Pospíšil, Deputy Mayor.
“Easter for many of us symbolizes not only the spiritual dimension, but above all the joy of spring and new beginnings. I am delighted that Marian Square once again belongs to a celebration that brings together tradition, community and also meaningful activities – including the opportunity to buy beautiful handicrafts from social enterprises. Our Easter market is not the biggest in Prague, but it has a heart – and that’s what makes the whole place special,” says deputy mayor Alexandra Udženija.

The markets will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the following days until Sunday, April 27. There are ten stalls with Easter products such as pom poms, Easter eggs and ceramics. Again, these are original products, especially from social enterprises and non-profit organisations.

As part of the Easter at Mariánské 2025 event, there is also an exhibition Tradition in Pictures, which presents Prague and Central Bohemia costumes and Easter customs of our ancestors. The exhibition combines artistic photography with ethnographic research and reveals forgotten costumes and customs in a new light. Many of the garments on display had disappeared from public knowledge and had to be reassembled from fragments preserved in museums or private collections.
Last but not least, the Mayor’s Easter Collection will be part of the programme at Mariánské náměstí on Thursday 24 April 2025 from 9.00 to 17.00. The event is traditionally held in cooperation with the Food Bank for Prague and the Central Bohemia Region and is aimed at helping people in need, especially seniors living on the poverty line, single parents and homeless people.
